But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Gal 4:4-5 (NIV)
The timing of Jesus’ first coming (like it will be with the second) was strategic. The time was predetermined by God and while there were many who waited for the appearing of Messiah, He only came when “time had fully come.” Other translations have “at the right time” or “in the fullness of time”.
When I make plans in my life I often forget that all my plans are subject to his will. I usually don’t admit that out loud, but I find myself “feeling” responsible to bring about all that I have planned. After all I desire to be a man of my word and I don’t want to let people down. However His ways are not our ways and He brings about his “perfect” will at “just the right time”.
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
