Simple Obedience

In 2 Kings 5, Naaman was challenged to obey God (through the prophet Elisha) by simply washing himself in the Jordan River 7 times in order for his leprosy to be healed. The problem is that Naaman had “Already tried that.”

Thankfully he has some close friends that challenged him on this. Here are their words

If the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it?

How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!”

2 Kings 5:13 (NIV)

In the New Covenant Jesus calls us to simple obedience (John 15:9-10) and what a Joy to find out that his commands are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). What simple things do you know God wants you to do? What are you waiting for?
