I had a training class last week in Atlanta, so the previous Thursday JJ and I loaded up the kids and drove to Greensboro, Alabama to visit with her family there. Her Family took us out to eat at a restaurant that was formerly a tire shop. Funny thing is, this restaurant had open since the last time we were in town, because the old restaurant in town (located right across the street) had closed to become a tire shop!

We spent the night in Tuscaloosa and the next day drove through Chattanooga, TN on the way to Ringgold, GA to stay with family. (Thanks Richard and Tonya for the hospitality!) On Saturday we spent time in downtown Chattanooga and around noon took a trip up Signal Mountain for a picnic. (See Photo) We all had a great time!

Sunday I left the family behind and drove to Acworth, GA and visited with my friend Todd Lollis and the guys at Freedom Church. Todd gave me a behind the scene look at what happens every Sunday at Freedom, as a team of guys (and gals) setup for their two worship services. Everyone at Freedom seems to love serving the Lord through this church plant; it’s going to be exciting to watch what God does through Freedom, and its leadership team (Todd and J.R. Lee)

I also had time to drive down a few miles south of Acworth and visit Watermarke Church, which is a NorthPoint Strategic Partner. I’ve been envisioning how a video venue church would work and I needed to see it firsthand. Very interesting. I’ll be blogging more about this later.

I was in class starting Monday through Thursday. It was probably one of the most informative leadership classes that I have ever taken. Wayne Pendle and the guys and Leadership Strategies did a great job “facilitating” the class. My family joined me Tuesday and they spent the days by the pool at the hotel and we spent the evenings gorging ourselves on food from places like this and this. A stop and Six Flags on Friday increased our desire to get home, which we finally did around 10:30 pm Friday.
