Snap

Last month I joined the Snap Fitness Gym in Petal. Right now I’m usually getting by there 3-4 times a week. I usually spend about 20-30 minutes doing cardio and then another 30 doing strength training. I started exercising in 1989 as freshman in high school. Lifting weights, along with something they call puberty, put me on the social map with my friends. So I continued to lift for vain purposes, but getting older and getting hurt has its way of rearranging why I (or anyone else) should workout.

Tendinitis in my shoulder, foot, and now my hip remind me it’s no longer about looking fit, it’s about staying in shape so I can serve the Lord to the best of my ability and to be here for my family as long as the LORD allows me. Just like the old Clay Walker song says, “I just want to live, until I die.”

Here are the reasons (oh yeah you know I thought through this) that I joined Snap and not another Gym.

  1. Convenience – It’s probably the closest one to our house. I pass by everyday going/coming to work.
  2. More Convenience- It’s open 24/7 so I can work them in on my schedule. I went on the 4th of July and had the place to myself.
  3. Variety – I can workout at any of the Snap Gym’s. There is another Gym in Hattiesburg, one in Gulfport, and one in Meridian. Since I travel to these places occasional through the year, I’ll have options to workout at different gyms
  4. Cost- There was a small fee to join, however I didn’t have to sign a contract. There are other “franchise” gyms out there, but they make you sign a 12 month contract and I want flexibly.
  5. Networking – It gives me an opportunity to meet people in the community who do not have a relationship with Christ. I’ve already meet one guy who came over last week and tinted a window in our new house.

So get moving. Go join a gym. Walk around your neighborhood. Do something. Don’t just sit there or- “I will attack and you don’t want that. – I’ve got the Power”
