I went to Chattanooga a few weeks ago to attend a Freedom in Christ Ministries seminar. I am very impressed by Neil Anderson’s systemic approach to confession and repentance. His material is a rare find for me in the world of “Christian Counseling”. I’ve read Bondage Breaker and Discipleship Counseling. I’m going back now and reading his first book, Victory over the Darkness.
FIC Ministries promote “Freedom Appointments”, which is a 4-8 hr session where issues/sin are systematically dealt with. I really like what he teaches about personal responsibility from those in need. I’m had wrongly taught people who are struggling to depend on me as a counselor/pastor to deliver them. Christ is truly the only one who delivers and heals. Now, when encouraging believers, I will conclude a conversations by ask them to pray for themselves while I join them in their prayer. After all it’s their faith, their responsibility that will guide them through. Christ alone will continue with them and guide them into the light.
I’ve been in contact with some of the guys from this ministry and look forward to seeing how God uses this ministry in the lives of hurting people. (That is all of us)
